Quantum Dot Scintillator
Quantum (size) confinement of semiconductor materials (quantum dots) leads to unique optical properties such as the ability to tune emission bands with QD size. As with bulk semiconductors, doped QDs can be made by introducing dopants with intermediate energy levels leading to enhanced stokes shift. RMD is investigating use of QD-polymer composites as plastic scintillators to compliment all organic scintillators.
